Hellmann’s - When Sally Met Hellmann’s

Creative Highlight | Super Bowl LIX Ad Trends

Hellmann’s took a humorous approach by parodying one of the most iconic scenes in film history. Celebrating the 35th anniversary of the beloved romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally…”, the brand recreated its legendary “fake orgasm” scene set against at a restaurant. For the Super Bowl, the ad brings Sally (Meg Ryan) and Harry (Billy Crystal) back to New York’s Katz’s Delicatessen. However, this time, there’s a twist—Sally isn’t faking her excitement; she’s genuinely satisfied—thanks to Hellmann’s mayo. In the 1989 film, an older woman famously delivers the line, “I’ll have what she’s having.” In Hellmann’s version, the moment is reimagined with a young lady (Sydney Sweeney), stepping in to say the line. Unlike Ram Trucks, which completely reimagined a well-known story, Hellmann’s took a more subtle approach, offering a clever twist on a familiar movie scene. The ad successfully evokes nostalgia for audiences who grew up with the film, while sparking curiosity among younger viewers drawn in by Sydney Sweeney’s star power.
