Conventional golf courses are exploring ways to diversify their offerings in response to competition from
spaces incorporating cutting-edge technology. A standout example is CASCADIA Golf Club, which has been
gaining traction on social media. Opened in September 2023 in Hongcheon, Gangwon Province, as a public
golf course, it garnered significant attention for its premium green fees—KRW 330,000 on weekdays and
400,000 on weekends—making it one of the most expensive golf courses in Korea. Despite the steep cost,
CASCADIA’s focus on the beauty of nature, solid aesthetics, and unique perspectives on rest has led to
widespread acclaim, with golfers deeming the experience well worth the price.
The heart of CASCADIA Golf Club lies in its 27-hole courses, which emphasize harmony with nature. Each
course—Stone, Tree, and Water—leverages the area’s geographical characteristics. For instance, the Stone
Course incorporates unique rock formations from the region’s gneiss layer uncovered during its construction,
while the Tree Course features tall trees aged over 100 years, blending seamlessly with the landscape.
The Water Course showcases a stunning waterfall, serving as the club’s signature hall and offering golfers
breathtaking views of nature.
Beyond golf, CASCADIA Golf Club enriches the experience with cultural and artistic content. The clubhouse,
designed to resemble an art gallery, permanently displays works by world-renowned installation artist
Jean-Michel Othoniel, alongside pieces from prominent Korean and international artists. The space also
features furniture by B&B Italia, one of the world’s most luxurious furniture brands, offering visitors a unique
experience of living amidst art.
The Suite & Villas at CASCADIA include 16 private villas equipped with high-end furniture, private pools,
jacuzzis, and terraces offering panoramic views of the entire golf club and the surrounding Hongcheon area.
These villas provide not just a golfing experience but also a restful retreat. Looking ahead, CASCADIA is
preparing to launch additional distinct amenities, including a Michelin-star restaurant and a pet hotel, further
elevating the experience it offers.
