Allianz and Women’s Aid launched a powerful campaign encouraging men to become active partners in ending gender-based violence. Aimed at men visiting flower shops to buy flowers for their partners in recognition of International Women’s Day, the campaign highlights the stark reality of women who have lost their lives at the hands of their partners. While “The Dead Flower Shop” appears like any ordinary flower shop from the outside, inside, all the flowers on display are dead. Each bouquet was carefully arranged to represent and memorialize an individual woman who was killed by her partner—delivering a poignant reminder of the reality of violence against women. At the center of the installation stands a large bouquet of roses, accompanied by a single wilted rose stem—symbolizing the 274 women in Ireland who have lost their lives to violence. This symbolic gesture delivers a powerful message in a quiet but deeply impactful way. Far more than a simple exhibition, the campaign calls on men to become part of the solution to gender-based violence.
