Creative Highlight | International Women’s Day 2025

The UK’s leading organization for ending domestic violence, Women’s Aid, released a powerful campaign titled “The Monster Who Came to Tea.” Inspired by a children’s book, the campaign underscores the urgent need for domestic violence services and government support. The story follows a mother and daughter experiencing domestic abuse, seen through the eyes of a young girl named Lily. As the narrative unfolds, it delivers a chilling twist: the “monster” isn’t a fictional creature—it’s her father. The campaign poignantly exposes the grim reality faced by thousands of women and children across the UK. Farah Nazeer, Chief Executive of Women’s Aid, emphasized the urgency of the issue: “Countless women and their children live in fear every day, and this must change. We’re calling on the government to take urgent action and provide adequate funding for the lifesaving domestic abuse services that support those fleeing abuse.” Viewers widely praised the campaign, calling it “very sad but a brilliant campaign” for how effectively it sheds light on domestic abuse faced by young girls.
