America’s second-largest real estate platform, Homes.com, aired two 30-second ads starring Dan Levy and Heidi Gardner during Super Bowl 2025. The first ad, titled “Not Saying We’re the Best,” features the two actors attempting to use the catchphrase “Homes.com is the best home shopping site.” However, they are immediately stopped by the company’s lawyer, who informs them that legally, they cannot say that (because it’s not true). In their attempt to work around the restriction, they rearrange the words, say it in Spanish, whisper it, and even have Morgan Freeman say it on their behalf, only to be rejected each time. The second ad, “Still Not Saying We’re the Best,” continues with Levy and Gardner once again trying to declare Homes.com as the best—only to be blocked by the lawyer again. Frustrated, they eventually rename the company to “Homes.comisthebest.com,” to which the lawyer finally surrenders. While the ads repeatedly emphasize that it’s not legal to make the claim, they ironically repeat the phrase “Homes.com is the best” numerous times by the end. In doing so, the campaign not only plays with humor but also cleverly imprints the phrase into viewers’ minds.
