AI Applied to Everyday Lives

Trend Hunter | CES2025 – Dive in

It is no exaggeration to say that AI is now integrated into nearly every industry. Among these, the robotics industry continues to evolve alongside advancements in AI, while security technology has also garnered attention, with Korean companies standing out in particular.

Robotics Advancing in Step with AI

As AI technology continues to evolve, robots are progressing alongside it, with enhanced capabilities for interacting with humans. At CES 2025, China-based Unitree unveiled its bipedal humanoid robot, G1, which captivated audiences with its intricate movements, such as shaking hands, dancing, and even performing backflips. Not limited to human-like robots, animal robots are also making significant strides. U.S.-based robotics company Tombot showcased a robotic dog named Jennie, designed to assist dementia patients by improving behavioral and psychological symptoms. Jennie’s body is equipped with touch sensors, enabling it to respond to interactions. It also mimics the barks of a Labrador Retriever and adjusts its movements and sounds over time, creating the impression that the robot puppy is “growing.” Another notable exhibit was Romi, an emotional support robot by Japanese company Mixi, resembling a water droplet. Trained on an extensive database of conversations, Romi can engage in natural interactions, displaying various expressions on its digital face when petted. This innovative design earned Romi an Innovation Award at CES 2025.

AI Technology Applied to Security

Among the seven Best of Innovation awards received by Korea-based companies at CES 2025, three were for AI-driven security technologies. Korean companies unveiled innovative solutions aimed at preventing criminal damages from information breaches. SK Telecom introduced ScamVanguard, a solution for detecting mobile scams. Utilizing deep learning to analyze text or social media scams and machine learning to identify phone scam patterns, ScamVanguard has been integrated into SK Telecom’s A. app, the identity verification service app PASS, and its Spam-Filtering Service, available for both chat and PC platforms. This technology is blocking an average of 1.3 million suspicious texts or calls per month. Korean fintech startup Ghostpass exhibited its biometrics-based verification payment solution, powered by on-device AI. By utilizing on-device AI—recognized for its high-security capabilities since AI model analyses are conducted directly within the user’s device—the company effectively addressed security concerns associated with fintech payment processes. Similarly, Suprema AI presented its on- device AI-driven technology, Q-Vision Pro, which uses behavioral and facial recognition to identify high-risk users. Once flagged, the system provides analysis reports to financial companies or organizations, aiding in the prevention of illicit financial transactions. This innovative approach garnered significant attention at the event.
